Slim Jim & the Mad Cows
Boston's Best Cover Band-2006
Slim
Jim and the Mad Cows' technique of taking metal anthems by the likes of
Motorhead, Judas Priest and, yes, even the mighty Led Zeppelin, and turning
them into rip-roaring country-style rockers, makes for some damn good
live entertainment.

Slim Jim and the Mad Cows sound like a band that just crawled out of the
Ryman Auditorium dumpster. Their repertoire drawn entirely from
the classic metal songbook includes a straight-outta-Bakersfield
version of GNRs "Night Train" and an "Ace of Spades"
thats way more Waylon than Lemme. Theyll be halfway through
one of those Johnny Cash talking-history songs about Indians before you
realize its Maidens "Run to the Hills."

The hootenanny rendition of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant
Song,'' flavored with a sweetly sung backup chorus of C.W. McCall's white-trash
classic "Convoy,'' is genius.
